When I was young, I was lucky to get to travel a fair amount with my family, generally to parts of Mexico and the Caribbean. Between the ages of 20-25 I moved from Texas > Florida > California > Italy, and learned that my passion to travel and see more of the world, was much bigger than I had previously known.
In 2011 I was two years into my career in physical therapy and living in Los Angeles, when I felt the urge to see another country.. I mean really see it. I quickly sold everything I owned, and flew to Italy on a one way flight! After one year exploring Italy, my life was never the same. You can read more about my au pair experience here.
I have had various international trips since then, but I have still felt stuck in the US. I’ve stayed busy while working the all-too-common 9-5 job (or two or three jobs at times), with a measly two weeks of paid vacation. Through my trips in recent years, I have met so many incredible backpackers that have helped me realize I don’t have to be stuck in one place because of a job. The possibilities are truly endless if you’re brave enough to take the leap.
In August 2018, I quit my job and started making arrangements to travel the world. I spent 4 months backpacking (and loving!) South America and am exploring Europe now.
